Democracy today seems to be moving in the direction of dictatorship through the alienation of large swathes of voters who feel disengaged from the activities of a political elite.
The Christian Gospel enjoins us (unless it has changed recently) to meet fire with love. To love our enemies, to love those who persecute us.
